Dr. Megan Scroger is a psychologist specializing in treating anxiety concerns, including panic attacks and phobias, traumatic or difficult life experiences, and life transitions. She is particularly passionate about supporting new and new-again parents and parents/caregivers of young children. Dr. Scroger has experience working in elementary school settings, supporting identification of emotional and behavioral concerns that can impact academic functioning, home life, and interpersonal success as well as treatment of these concerns. In addition to experience with children ages 4 to 8, Dr. Scroger has extensive clinical training in individual psychotherapy with adults across the age range from emerging adulthood to older adulthood. Anxiety disorders are a particular specialty and Dr. Scroger is also experienced with supporting individuals through recovery from traumatic experiences. She also provides perinatal mental health services and focuses on women’s mental health. Additional areas of expertise include treatment of insomnia, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, complex trauma, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Dr. Scroger takes largely a person-centered approach to treatment, creating a warm, safe space to build a strong therapeutic relationship and empower clients to create change. Evidence-based interventions typically utilized by Dr. Scroger are based in cognitive behavioral therapies such as cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure, and exposure and response prevention, parent management training, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. Dr. Scroger completed her doctoral training in School and Clinical Psychology at Roberts Wesleyan University and an APA-accredited internship at Rochester Institute of Technology Priority Behavioral Health Internship Consortium Program (Rochester Regional Health Outpatient Behavioral Health), where she remained for an additional year-long placement as a postdoctoral associate to complete her clinical training.
Dr. Scroger does accept Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. Her self-pay rates are as follows: $250 for an initial intake appointment and $160 for follow up sessions. Please contact the office with any questions or for scheduling.
